  • Be between 18 and 60 years old
  • Be unemployed with no other income

  • Not receive any other social grant, UIF payment or NSFAS funding

For the full breakdown, see our SRD eligibility criteria guide, which includes a free eligibility calculator.

What You Need to Apply

  • Active banking details in your own name (or a chosen collection method)

SRD R370 Payment Dates (2026/2027)

The SRD R370 grant has no fixed payment date. Unlike the Older Persons, Disability and Children's grants, SRD payments are released later in the month - usually between the 20th and the end of the month - once an application is approved for that month. The only way to find your exact date is to check your status. See the full 2026/2027 payment schedule for the other grants.

How to Apply (Application Process)

  1. Go to the official SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Enter your South African ID and the cellphone number you want to use.
  3. Confirm the OTP sent to your phone and complete the application form.
  4. Add your banking details or chosen payment method.
  5. Submit, then check your status each month to see your result.

Good to know: applying for the SRD grant, reconsiderations and appeals are always free through the official SASSA channels. Never pay anyone to "help" you.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips & common mistakes (from experience)
  • Use a cellphone number registered in your own name - OTP problems are the No.1 cause of failed applications.
  • Your bank account must be in your own name, or payment will be paused.
  • Re-apply or confirm for the month when SASSA asks - the SRD is reviewed every month.
  • Check your status after the middle of the month, when paydays are released.
